Watercolour on location is my joy. For me, it is all about the attitude of painting en plein air, turning up and painting with honesty all in one go. There is no alteration or returning involved in my process, because from my perspective the beauty of the medium is fully presented when executed directly, with freshness, in the present moment.

I see myself foremostly as a technical painter. In the sense I care mostly about the exection of my work, in order to accurately portray the atmosphere of what I'm capturing.

The discipline of drawing came first, and will always underpin everything I do. Although the final exectutions are of watercolour, there is behind eberything a stream of sketchbook work and dedication to draughtsmanship.
